Marytza J. Reyes

Marytza J. Reyes has more than 15 years’ experience handling complex employment and commercial litigation for national and regional entities across a wide range of industries.

Marytza represents employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, and wrongful termination lawsuits, handling all aspects of litigation from motion practice through mediations, trials, and appeals. She also has extensive experience conducting internal investigations on sensitive personnel issues and responding to government investigations, audits and hearings. Marytza also defends and advises clients in complex wage and hour disputes—including class actions, claims under the California Private Attorney General Act, and state and federal labor laws.

Marytza has significant experience prosecuting and defending actions involving trade secrets, unfair competition, defamation, breach of contract, fraud and other business disputes. She has successfully mediated and arbitrated numerous employment and business matters.

Marytza’s engaging style and deep knowledge base makes her a sought-after speaker on a wide array of employment litigation topics, including disability accommodation issues, handling sensitive internal investigations and recent developments as a result of the #MeToo movement. Marytza also serves in several leadership roles within the legal community. She is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, currently serving on the Saturday Seminar Committee and the 2019 Symposium Committee. She also serves on the Los Angeles area committee of the National Employment Law Council and is a Co-Chair of the NELC’s Programming Committee. Marytza is actively involved with the Labor & Employment Section of the American Bar Association as Co-Chair of the ABA’s Membership Services Committee. She is admitted to practice in the Ninth Circuit, all California U.S. District Courts and all courts of the State of California.

Prior to joining SANCHEZ & AMADOR, Marytza was a member of the Labor & Employment Group of Reed Smith for seven years, after having handled employment and commercial litigation for seven years with Thelen, LLP. Marytza received her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. Marytza writes and speaks Spanish fluently.
