Marytza J. Reyes has almost 25 years of experience managing complex employment litigation for national and regional employers across a wide range of industries, such as banking, food service, retail, logistics, health care and non-profit organizations. She has extensive experience defending and advising clients in complex wage and hour disputes and representing employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, and wrongful termination lawsuits. Marytza also has significant expertise advising and litigating matters involving disabilities, leave and accommodation issues. Marytza oversees all aspects of litigation, from mediations through trials and appeals. She co-chairs S&A’s Employment Litigation and Counseling group.

Marytza chairs S&A’s Investigation group and has particular expertise conducting internal investigations on sensitive personnel issues, particularly those involving executives or entire facilities or departments, or with Spanish speaking witnesses. She has conducted over 75 high-level investigations and currently leads a team of 5 partners and associates in conducting investigations for S&A’s clients. Marytza also enjoys litigating the employment crossover cases, such as trade secret, unfair competition, defamation, breach of contract, fraud and other general business disputes. She also represents employers in responding to government investigations, audits, and hearings.

Marytza’s engaging style and deep knowledge base make her a sought-after speaker on a wide array of employment litigation topics, particularly the handling of executive-level investigations and sexual harassment issues. She serves in several leadership roles with the Los Angeles County Bar Association, serving as the Chair for the Labor & Employment Law Section’s Annual Symposium Committee and, with the National Employment Law Council, serving as the former Annual Conference Programming Co-Chair from 2018-2022 and currently serves on the Los Angeles area committee. Marytza is also a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators, the American Bar Association, the California Minority Counsel Program, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, and the Women Lawyers of Los Angeles. She is admitted to practice in the Ninth Circuit, all California U.S. District Courts and all courts of the State of California.

Prior to joining Sanchez & Amador, Marytza was a member of the Labor & Employment Group of Reed Smith for seven years, after having handled employment and commercial litigation for seven years with Thelen, LLP, and its predecessor firm. Marytza received her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA. Marytza writes and speaks Spanish fluently.
